Pumpkin Pie Spice

I`m  sure you all have seen recipes all over the web for homemade pumpkin pie spice. If so, I`m sorry. If you have not, then, YAY! :)

I never thought of making my own because I`m not the type who goes crazy about making everythinggg from scratch. I like baking from scratch, but I also don`t mind the occasional frozen puff pastry.

Hence, I never cared much for making my own pumpkin pie spice. BUT, then I realized I already had all the ingredients except for ground cloves. I want to have pumpkin pie spice too! I just never bought any since spices are expensive.

I rationalized that if I buy the ground cloves and make my own pumpkin pie spice, I`ll have two new spices without paying for both! Awesome, right?

Plus, I was able to add more of whatever ingredient I like. I more than like cinnamon. So my version of pumpkin pie spice has a LOT of cinnamon and it`s great~

P.S. I am sharing this now, because I will post a recipe using it soon! Stay tuned! ;)

  3. I just learned this fall that we can actually make pumpkin pie spice. I saw a lot of recipes using this spice, and before someone shared this spice recipe, I actually went to store to buy. Then I was shocked to see it's close to $8-9 per bottle! As I don't bake much I knew I won't use it often... so I appreciate you share homemade version! :)

  6. Though I don't like pumpkin pie, I love pumpkin spice muffin and bread. Usually I add some more cinnamon to my recipes, but how smart is it to have it ready blended!
    Great idea.

  8. People who throw a fit about *everything* needing to be made from scratch drive me up a wall. Some of us work and have lives! This is a great idea, though, and I bet it'd make a good addition to a food-themed holiday gift basket!
